Wing Chun History
Wing Chun (known also as Wing Tsun or Ving Tsun) is one of the most popular and accessible styles of Chinese martial arts. Although based on ancient principles, modern Wing Chun was developed in Hong Kong in the 1950s by a Grandmaster called Yip Man. One of the most famous of Yip Man’s students was the martial arts movie star Bruce Lee. In his films he demonstrated the effectiveness of Wing Chun’s principles and in doing so sparked a world wide interest in the system.
Wing Chun is a very effective and practical system of unarmed combat. Although the complete system can probably be learned in around three years, it is an art that will take a life time to master fully.
Wing Chun Syllabus
Our syllabus is designed to take a student from White Sash to Black Sash Leader and it will take on average 36 months. Most of our students train once or twice a week, but if you want to train more then that’s fine! Should you miss any classes due to illness or holiday, then we will do whatever is necessary for you to catch up.
